5 Tips to Boost Your Adsense Revenue

4:25 PM Posted by Slamy

Google AdSense program has made it easier for webmasters to make money through a website. Webmasters who run an AdSense campaign will display Google's contextual Ads relevant to the content of their sites and thus encouraging visitors to click the ads and earn money for each ad click.
However you will earn very little AdSense revenue if you don't know how to optimize your AdSense ads on your website. Here are some tips to increase your AdSense earning:
1. Focus on one Adsense ad format. The Large Rectangle (336X280) ad format seems to work better than other ad formats because this format tends to result in higher click through rates (CTR). Another reason is that the ads will look like normal web links that visitors use to click on them. It doesn't matter whether the visitors know that they are clicking AdSense ads or not, as long as there are clicking, you earn AdSense commission.
2. Create a custom palette for your ads. Select a color that matches your website's background. If your site's background is white both, the color of ad border and background should set to be white too. Also the color of the ad title should be similar to coloe of the links in your website. This is to make your AdSense ads look like it is part of the web pages. Again, this will boost AdSense CTR.
3. Don't place your AdSense ads at the bottom of your webpages because it is proven to be less effective. Displaying your AdSense ads at the bottom is like hiding your AdSense and thus leads to low CTR and AdSense revenue. Try to put them in the place where people can see them quickly. You will be amazed how the difference between AdSense locations can make when you see your earnings.
4. Try to place your AdSense ads near rich content as visitors main focus usually are your content. There are several ways to insert AdSense ads into your content and one of the ways is place your AdSense just after the end of your content.
5. Try to automate the insertion of your AdSense code into the webpages using SSI (or server side included). Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your AdSense code in a text file, name it as “AdSense text”, and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then use SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.

Selling Ad Space for Banner Advertising - 5 Things to Consider

6:28 PM Posted by Slamy

Here are five crucial factors that need to be considered when offering Ad Space for private Banner Advertising:
1. Locating Advertisers
How are you going to find sponsors? You can either carry out this task yourself or advertise your Advertising Space for sale on a Banner Auction website.
Finding advertisers yourself:

  • The most likely sites that would want to advertise with you would be those directly corresponding to your target audience;
  • Sites that are advertising with your competitors are a good start. You can also contact websites which are advertising on those sites.
  • You will need to contact each prospect one by one with a professional email asking if they are interested in buying Advertising Space on your site. The email should include an attachment or link to your media kit including analytics, prices and a description of your website.
  • Personalise the email stating where you found the website and why you believe they would wish to advertise with your site. You won't get a favorable response to a a standard and impersonal email.
  • Keep a record of who you've contacted and their response.
  • Remember to follow up on an email and offer some great deals to get noticed.

Advertising Space For Sale:
  • Sell Ad Space at an auction website to spare yourself the hassles of looking for individual advertisers one by one ;
  • Ad space Auction websites enable you to list your space together with details of your website and analytics. You can either set a specific buy-out amount or put the Ad Space up for auction.
  • Potential buyers are able to contact you direct and make you offers.
  • You can create a store which displays all the Advertising Space you have available, standard information about your website, your acceptance policies, ad specifications, analytics and anything else you desire.

2. Positioning, Quality & Quantity
What advertisers look for:
  • Positions above the fold (where their Banner Ad will be displayed without viewers needing to scroll down to see it);
  • Larger Banners (the bigger, the more you can charge);
  • Wider Ads are more readable and tend to perform better than vertical Banners;
  • Not too many competing Ads on the same page (large volumes of space taken up by other advertisers on your website takes away their quality).
  • Your traffic is only one indicator of the worth of your Advertising Space. Many advertisers seeking to reach a specific target audience in their niche would rather advertise on a directly related site than a site with huge traffic but no relevance.

3. Costing Method
How should you charge? Below are the method of how to charge for Ad Space:
  • Pay Per Click (PPC) - the advertiser pays you the agreed amount each time a viewer clicks on their advertisement;
  • Cost Per Thousand Impressions (CPM) - an amount is charged for each thousand times the Ad is to be displayed on your website.
  • Pay Per Action (PPA) / Cost Per Lead (CPL) - payment is made each time the Advertisement is clicked and the customer undertakes some type of approved action (such as registering, subscribing or making a purchase);
  • Cost Per Time - this is the most favorable method of costing for private Ad sales. Sponsors simply pay to have their ad displayed in your slot for an agreed period of time (such as one wee, month or quarter).
  • Most publishers do not offer costing methods reliant on specific events or actions taking place (as the income is too dependent on the quality of the Banner Ad and the offer contained in it). In addition, more reporting is needed to undertake such campaigns.

4. Ad Specifications
Before placing the Advertising Space for sale, you should consider the advertisement requirements and creative specifications, including:
  • Ad dimensions;
  • Maximum file size;
  • Animation restrictions (example: loop maximum, maximum animation time);
  • Preferred / allowed format;
  • Flash requirements;
  • Video requirements (example: loading with sound off, rollover activation, maximum run time, visible stop icon, who pays additional service costs, polite download).
  • Expandable creative specifications (example: maximum dimensions, file size, animation restrictions, user-initiated, close button, expansion delay, additional serving costs);
  • Appropriateness of content (example: no adult material).

5. Analytics
You should prepare a .pdf or image file of your website analytics.
There are various aspects to selling Advertising Space. With many decisions to make, some site owners just take the easy way out and put their space in the hands of an ad network, where profits are slim and sometimes inventory is sold for scraps due to the overabundance in supply. When done effectively, selling Banner Advertising direct can be very profitable and worthwhile.

Seo Darmstadt - PPC and SEO Management

6:27 PM Posted by Slamy

Many people are stumbling on the proper ways to increase their website rank using SEO (search engine optimization). Basically, SEO is simply building up your website both online and offline so that it is recognized by search engines as being the most relevant to users searches. When this happens, your site increases it's position in search results and more visitors find your website. This gets you free "organic" traffic without the need to pay for placement.
When a user types in a specific keyword or phrase, the search engine's job is to find the most relevant information for that user. There are a lot of variables here and one can never really figure out exactly what search engines look for because they are always changing and most of their expectations are kept confidential. This is simply to cut back on the spammers who inflate their rankings simply to make a quick buck.
Some things you should consider when using SEO to increase your website rank is what keywords you are using and if you are including them in your titles and URLs as well as the content of your pages. Are you using images and are you including keywords in their tags as well? Are you utilizing anchor text in your content? Are you filling out your meta tags with relevant information and keywords? What kind of external links point to your site and how relevant are they to your content? How about the internal links? Also, and most importantly, what kind of content are you putting out there? Are you simply whipping up words and keywords or are you providing quality content that is useful and informative to your readers.
These are only a few things that search engines use to determine the relevance of websites to user's search queries. There are many others. Basically, if your goal is to provided content, products and services that will help people and you build your websites with that in mind, you should be fine. However, you still need to keep keywords, titles and building links back to your site in mind. The more popular people find your website, the higher up you will climb in the search engines.
These are not the only ways to attract viewers to your website though. Inbound links built by owners of other websites who link to yours work well too, as long as the information contained in both sites is related one way or another. You may decide to write informative articles about your business and when submitted to article directories with a link to your site in the resource box this will also encourage people to take a look. Posting on forums and commenting on blogs with links back to your site in the signature box works wonders too. In fact, it only takes a bit of creative thought and a spot of hard work and in no time at all your efforts at search engine optimization will be paying you back in great dividends.

Article Submission For maximun Results

6:26 PM Posted by Slamy

Submitting articles to the search engines is a time honored strategy for generating traffic. It has been used since the first days of the Web and remains a good traffic generation strategy even in our Web 2.0 times.
There are a ton of queries over the best methodology of submitting articles for max traffic and effectiveness. What are the perfect techniques and which are the most effective?
The first technique is to submit your article to the granddaddy of all article directories, EzineArticles. This site has built a reputation of being the best article directory in town. It's loved by marketers and by readers and most importantly, by Google.
It is a supply of frustration to several marketers who find it troublesome to meet the submission guidelines or address the timescales for articles to be approved.
However, if you scan their guidelines and stick to them, your articles will get through without a hitch.
Once they are in Ezinearticles you instantly receive advantages from it. Articles in this directory tend to rank very well in Google, even without backlinks to them.
Add in a few backlinks and suddenly you find your articles are ranking in the top 10 for moderately competitive keywords. In fact, even without backlinks they can often rank well simply because they are already on Ezinearticles.
Once your article has been published you need to carry out some simple backlinking to it simply to give it that further boost in the search engines.
Firstly, take your Ezinearticle author RSS feed and submit it to RSS directories. You can either use a tool or do it by hand. If you are doing it by hand, simply pick the top ten directories in a Google search and that can be good enough for now. You can always submit to more later on, so make sure you retain track of which ones you have added your feed to.
You can also use 1 of the various ping sites to ping your article. This will give Ezinearticles a lift, but it also gets your article noticed.
Finally, social bookmark your article. Once more, you can either use a tool or do it manually. If your article is newsworthy and well written then you can look at adding it to sites like Digg or Stumbleupon to get further links and traffic.
In fact, there are other article directories out there, but none of them carry the weight of Ezinearticles. Google Knoll is a current contender and is very favored with marketers who are using it to submit their articles too. So far though, these don't seem to be ranking as well as Ezinearticles, but it looks a good method to get the Big G to note your sites.
For the other article directories it is simply not worth submitting articles manually to them, except perhaps the top half a dozen big directories. Several of the rest get so little traffic it is just not worthwhile, aside from the backlink. Therefore you can either outsource or automate these submissions to free up your time to focus on building your business.
If you're submitting articles then you need to make certain they are already on Ezinearticles for optimum traffic. Do some simple backlinking to your article and you will easily find your articles ranking well for their keywords and bringing you good traffic.

Google Referrals updated News

3:39 AM Posted by Slamy

After the last messsage from google adsense this is what they are saying to all PUBLISHERS

you have the option to add a referral unit for AdSense within your account when you target any referral unit to Japan and/or any countries in North America and Latin America. To ensure payment for valid conversions, we recommend that you check the targeting settings on your current AdSense referral units.

We'd also like to let you know about upcoming changes to the referrals programs for Google Pack and Firefox:

Google Pack: Currently, you can earn up to $2 when a user downloads and runs Google Pack for the first time after being referred through your link or button. Starting the third week of February, each successful Pack referral will earn up to $1. This change will apply to all referrals for Google Pack and is independent of user location or publisher location.

Firefox: We will also be reducing payments for Firefox referrals from China during the third week of February. This specific referral payment change will only affect installations from users in China. As with referrals to AdSense, this is independent of your location as a publisher.

Can I Really Make Money With AdSense?

12:30 AM Posted by Slamy

By Shawn Lovett

With the job market the way it is, each of us is looking at every opportunity to provide additional income. Many of you have lost your job or fear losing it; some of you have just graduated and are looking for that first full-time employment opportunity. Still, others of you are looking for a summer job or some part-time work to earn extra cash.

If you search for opportunities to make money, sooner or later you will discover Google’s AdSense. There are many similar opportunities out there, but AdSense is one of the largest and best known. It is also very easy to configure and costs nothing to join. Once you start reading about AdSense you will see the Google ads on many of the web sites you frequent. More than likely you have also clicked on some of the more interesting of the ads and even purchased a product from one of the advertisers.

If you create a website or even several websites you will learn a few things. First, that when someone clicks on your ad you will actually make money! It might not seem like a lot at first, but if you can grow the number of visitors to your websites and your content draws new visitors, the amount of money you can make will grow. You will also learn that it takes a lot of hard work, patience, and persistence to produce and maintain excellent content that will keep both old and new guests coming back. You might get lucky with the right type of content and grow very quickly; most likely it will be a slow and at times painful process. If you make the commitment and put in the effort, you can expect much better results.

Here are some steps to get you started with making money with AdSense:

1. Read about it.

Visit Google.com/AdSense to create an account, learn about creating ads, and understanding the program. Also search for other articles about AdSense to learn more.

2. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Trust your instincts. You will likely find numerous websites that contain books, start-up kits, article generation software, and guaranteed methods to make money from AdSense. In most cases the website selling the product is making the money, not you. If you are still tempted than try some of them, but remember you have been warned.

3. Which sites do you enjoy most?

Think of the sites you like to visit. Are they usually the same ones, or do you like to surf to find new sites on whatever topic interests you at the moment? Create a site similar to the ones you most enjoy, and make sure it is a topic you will enjoy writing fresh content for your website.

4. Which sites have made money?

There are plenty of sites that say they have make millions with a kit they sell for $29,99. Believe them only if you want. For better information go to http://websiteoutlook.com and type in the name of any website. It will provide you with an estimate of the value of the website, based on the number of hits over time. You will find some websites worth hundreds or thousands of dollars, and several in the millions (Google and eBay come to mind). I have found this to be one of the best motivators, as you can see which sites are making money based on hits and which ones are not. You can also track your website from the time it doesn’t show up until its value slowly grows (or shrinks if you don’t put the time into it).

5. Start small

Start small with just AdSense, and expand your advertising as your site grows and you learn your own formula for success.

If you are going through some tough times it is a great way to focus your energy. Once you find your formula you can expand to multiple websites and increase the number of ads you host. The best part about it: you can work from home and the sky is the limit!

Can Anyone Make Money Using Google AdSense?

12:28 AM Posted by Slamy

Amanda Isbitt

Website owners can use Google AdSense to advertise their site and make money. Anyone can make money-using AdSense by placing his or her product or service website advertisements there. When internet viewer clicks your link, you make money. It sounds simple enough. It is a straightforward economic model that can increase your earnings.

Anyone will find this beneficial when he or she follows the particular terms and conditions of using Google AdSense.

First, you must read, understand and agree to Google AdSense terms of service. This is the first step of joining the program and it offers a lot of potential for anyone. However, many individuals either seem to overlook the terms of service or forget the rules, which can cause problems. It is essential that you read, understand and then take proper advantage of the program as it is provided to you.

- Prohibited or Banned

If you are prohibited from using the site, you may never be able to restore your account. Google depends on the strength of their advertisers. They gather information about the advertising pages they feature and then use this information and then capitalize on the income that is generated by the campaigns that are placed on AdSense. They will teach you how to place your campaigns so that you can be successful.

- Website Contents

You will need to pay attention to the various issues concerning your website contents.

- Keywords

Google AdSense integrates various characteristics of advertisements, which are appropriate to the contents of your WebPages. If they are not able to determine the content topic of your page, you may end up with advertisements that do not relate to your topic at all or display various advertisements for public services that offer you no profits.

- Traffic Types

The type of traffic that you have will depend upon the content of your pages. You will need to generate a great deal of traffic on a daily basis in order to make money with AdSense. You can determine the amount of money that you make by clicking may be in cents rather than dollars if your traffic is small. You will begin to understand that more traffic means more money.

- Search Engine Traffic

Search engines look for your keywords, in order to make money you will need to use high quality keywords. This will make a big difference in the money you can make with AdSense. Search engine traffic is adaptable since an internet surfer will enter in the words that they are searching for and your site will show up on the ranks of the pages concerning the ranking on Google.

- Larger Websites

Understandably, larger websites tend to get more clicks on AdSense when you compare them with websites that feature only four or five pages. Therefore, it is imperative for you to choose the best keywords or keyword phrases that relate to your topic in order to compete with large websites by attracting new clients to your web pages. You need to find the best keywords to fit your website. Remember to maintain your website and keep the information you provide current and fresh, as this will also aid you in making money while using Google AdSense.

What Makes the Google AdSense System So Special?

12:25 AM Posted by Slamy

Quinton Carroll

The most basic way to answer the question about what makes Google AdSense so special is like this...

When all is said and done, Google provides any web developer with ads that are relevant to the content of the web page that the ads are being displayed on. They literally read your page before the ads are displayed; get some ads that fit perfectly with the context of your page.

They also give you the ability to not only choose from many different styles and types of ads, but they also allow you to format your ads in almost any way you like. There are choices of text or graphic ads, height and width and they even provide you with a search box that displays ads based on the search that your web site visitor types in, without the visitor having to open a new browser window to get to the Google search page.

If you don't want competitor ads showing on your site, you also have an option of filtering out their ads.

Because you are being paid every time one of your web site visitors clicks on an ad, and your visitors are on your site, it makes perfect sense for the ads you are going to show them to be ads for things that they are interested in.

Not all ad network providers give you such targeted ads, but Google does!

Just imaging visiting a web site that is focused on software development tools and tips and tricks, and the ads were for baking equipment. Do you think you would make much money from your users clicking the ads? I doubt it!

The Importance Of Keywords In Seo

5:36 PM Posted by Slamy

The root element of any search engine optimization process is keywords.
Because of this, it becomes necessary to take it as the first and most
important step for optimization. Since all search queries are based on
the keywords entered in the search engine, you must carefully select
the most relevant keywords for your website.

If the optimization is to make your site visible in the top search
rankings then the right keywords are what around which the entire
SEO-process revolve. A bad selection of keywords may ruin your entire
optimization work as whatever you will do after it will be based on
those keywords. So you must be careful at this first and far most
important step.

The following points can be useful for finding suitable keywords for any website:

1. Analyze your content: Analyze your whole site and make sure not to
leave even a single corner of the site's content or images. Try to
extract all the important keywords from it. Prepare an excel sheet and
make as many different phrases as possible from the extracted words.
Eliminate all the phrases which do not have the words used on the web
site. Repeat this process to get the most relevant and suitable
keyword-list.

2. Industry knowledge: To be able to choose relevant keywords for a
website belonging to a specific industry you should have knowledge of
that particular industry. If you do not have that knowledge you can get
it by visiting some of the other sites in that industry.

3. Analyzing the competition. Check which keywords your competitors has
used to target their websites. By analyzing your competitors websites
before you finalize your own you can get an idea of which list of
keywords you should use on yours.

4. Keyword generation tools: There are a couple of tools on the web
which can help you get the keywords you require. The Adwords keyword
tool for example, is one place you can get relevant keywords by just
entering one single keyword or your website URL.

5. Keyword popularity: The more popular a keywords is, the more
difficult it will be to get a good ranking for that keyword. This is
especially true for new sites, so in the beginning it can be a good
idea to not target the most competitive keywords. After a couple of
months when the site has gained enough backlinks you can start
optimizing for more popular keywords.

Adding Social Bookmarks to your Blogger site

All bloggers struggle with one important question, How to drive traffic to our blog ?
We need to have quality content and backlinks to drive traffic to our blog and occupy first place on google search engines and create goodwill.

The most important factor is the quality of post (The Material). Secondly, you need to put the main keywords/Tags for the article in the post for easy search (Tags).

One of the very effective ways is to have bookmarks in various social bookmarking sites like Reddit, Digg, StumbleUpon, Furl etc. But the author just can’t just submit each and every post to bookmarking sites as its very time consuming.

WHy your adsense fails

7:44 AM Posted by Slamy

To get into why AdSense is a failure, we need to go back to the original premise (and in many ways still the premise) of AdSense.

AdSense was designed to:

  • Provide the highest level of contextually relevant ads based on what a post is about
  • Provide value to the reader by getting rid of those “junky” ads (like spank the monkey, which is still on of my favourite ideas, even after 8 years)
  • Provide value to the advertiser by only showing ads on relevant content
  • Provide value to the advertiser by only showing ads on relevant sites
  • Driving up click through rates (CTRs) through the theory that better context = more engaged visitor interest = more clicks
  • Driving up effective CPMs thanks to higher clicks
  • Providing a “safe” ad for publishers that don’t include nudity, pornography, etc
  • Provide a “safe” ad for advertisers that didn’t SHOW on “bad” sites
  • Be transparent, so people had more data (in a more easy to use interface) than  ever before
  • Be more responsive than other ad networks (ie: serve the publishers)

Some of these are obviously different sides of the same coin and they could arguably be boiled down to: better for advertisers, better for publishers, better for google.

The problem is, none of these things happened the way they were supposed to. AdSense doesn’t actually succeed on a single one of these points - or if it does it’s for a single site, single industry, whatever. Not only is AdSense evil (for being one of the few networks that regularly violates its OWN Terms of Service without a care in the world), but it actually does the inverse of what it’s always claimed to do.

Btw, if you think any of these are over the top, listen to Google execs on the last earnings call and all the things they’re changing to bring themselves more in line with this (hint: it’ll have no impact).

Before I get into the list, let me state: I know that by posting this list I’ll get 1000 responses about why each thing is wrong for one person’s site or how it’s earning them more money or whatever. While in some ways I care (because folk earning is a Good Thing), in other ways I don’t. Why? Because if they did what they actually promised, you’d be earning even more. And advertisers would have more value. So why don’t they? Because Google wouldn’t make as much money. And while we might fool ourselves that they were once the “do no evil” company, they are now (understandably) the “lose no money” company.

Here’s the fundamental issue. If AdSense worked the way it was supposed to, advertisers would have vastly more relevance, would see much higher CPMS (and much betterpost-click activity) and cost per click would go through the roof.

Instead, AdSense is a race to the bottom for advertisers, publishers… Everyone but Google.

So let’s get to the list:

Context relevance

Stories abound about how useless AdSense targetting can be for posts. Some of these are just poor architecture (see here) others are more innocuous. But no matter what, every blogger has seen useless AdSense ads. And let me put it this way: for every useless ad you’re seeing, at least 100 visitors are seeing useless ads as well. Mention “toilet” once. Mention “cancer” once. Mention “dating” once and Google will serve up ads related to stuff that are totally random (I’m looking forward to see the ads for this post!) based on the article.

Afte all, this is called “contextual” advertising. If the “context” of an article isn’t dating, the context of a blog isn’t dating and dating has never been an actual topic before, how in the world should the add ever be dating? To flip it around: if a blog is in ever blog directory under Business, every post is about business and the post in question is about business then how do you end up with ads about mortgages? It happens. Every day. To millions of people. Those ads are actually less useful than the spank the monkey ads. At least spank the monkey ads were fun. Most of the ads that show up randomly are from spammers at best and scammers at worst.

No More Junk

The second goal with AdSense was that by having non-visual ads, you wouldn’t get the jarring experience.

But, really is this more or less jarring than a monkey flying around the screen? Especially given pornographic advertising is actually against Google’s Terms of Service? I’m sorry, but anyone who tries to convince me that Google can’t figure out an AdWords ad is about or linking to a pornographic domain would have an easier time getting Madonna onto Al Jazeera.

Of course, the irony is that there are gobs of equally spammy ads on AdSense for sites just like Money Tree, Smack the Monkey, etc, so it didn’t get rid of them. Google’s motto: “if it pays…. we’ll allow it til someone complains”.

Relevant Ads on Relevant Sites

Is this relevant? C’mon, like Google can’t scan beyond the URL?

How about ads showing up on blatantly porn sites (link is safe, links on page are not)

How about NAZI sites?

Bad ads on good sites, good ads on bad sites, bad ads on bad sites… but nowhere near enough good ads on good sites. Nevermind all the domaining going on that Google “says” they got rid of (I still see it daily).

All of these things not only pollute publisher sites, they drive down CTR for advertisers, it has them paying out ads that are completely NON contextual and drives down revenue for everyone… everyone but Google, of course.

Higher CTRs

Now, obviously, click through rates (CTRs) vary depending on site, category, content, visitor, % of SEO visits, etc. As Darren rightly points out, there are simply too many variables to do a useful “average”. However banner ad clients tend to see CTRs between .1% and 1%, with an average (based on actual data, a bunch of reports, and anecdotal evidence) of somewhere in the .25-.5% range.

So how about AdSense? Well AdSense takes the (see #9) approach of banning publishers from talking about CTR. So, I won’t talk about CTR on b5 sites, or even sites I have anything to do with. I’ll simply talk industry aggregate numbers based purely on anecdotal evidence. Evidence that says getting a 1% CTR on AdSense is pretty good for most sites (the smaller you are, the higher your CTR can  be, so if you’re doing less than 100K pageviews/month don’t tell me your CTR is higher, kthnxbai!). Anything in the .1% range woudl be low.

See a pattern? Yeah, me either since it’s actual data vs people hiding from Google smacking them down. Y’know, like #10 says they shouldn’t.

But, realistically, if folk were making more than 1%, you’d hear about it. But they aren’t, on average, outside of a few verticals or smaller sites. Unless they’re, y’know, basically making the ads as non-ad-like as possible thus fooling visitors.

So while we don’t know what AdSense’s CTR is on average, we do know it isn’t that much higher than the norm.

Higher CPMs

Now, this one’s actually harder. In theory better CTRs should mean better CPMs on AdSense (since you get paid per click, not per impression). And for some industries, it can be a much, much higher CPM than they’d see elsewhere. However, on average, all remnant (which is what AdSense is) CPMs are going down (see PubMatic’s Ad Price Index, which includes AdSense). And even if Pubmatic’s index didn’t include AdSense, if AdSense was the best out there, nobody would use services like PubMatic or Rubicon.

For the average site, AdSense delivers CPMs that are on par with banner ads.

Providing a “safe” ad for publishers that don’t include nudity, pornography, etc

Transparency / Publisher Relations

When Google started, it was on the principle that other ad networks were bad. Everything they’ve done since has been based on that. At some point, though, Google realized that the reason why customer service, data, etc, was bad at other ad networks was bad is that as the company running those relations it’s bad and expensive! So, instead of, y’know, solving the issue (since they have the $) they simply decided to ignore it.

These days, getting ahold of someone at AdSense (if you aren’t a major publisher) is effectively impossible.

Getting data out of AdSense is effectively imposible.

Even silly things like comparing CTRs is against TOS.

And then there are, of course, the thousands of stories of people who haven’t done anything wrong but have run  amock of Google’s algorithm and had their accounts cancelled. An algorithm that cancels their account largely without recourse (cause, good luck getting those emails answered with anything more than a form response!).

Understanding Web Traffic Analysis

8:11 PM Posted by Slamy

When you create a Web site, your hosting service should provide you with a way to track the number of visits each page receives as well as some indication of where they are coming from. This isn’t information for its own sake: you want to be able to analyze and act on the data. By learning about who visits your Web site, how your visitors find you, and what they do while they are browsing through your online presentation, you can tailor your product selection and presentation to better meet their needs.
Traditionally, the practice of Web site traffic analysis is referred to as reviewing the ‘‘log files,’’ the information-packed and techie-looking files that contain computer addresses and Web page URLs. Such information needs to be displayed in the form of a graph or chart to understand it better, and that’s exactly what Analytics does. Typically, you want to look at information over a particular period of time, whether
it is a month, day, or week. You need to pay attention to facts such as:
• Domain Reports—This kind of report tells you which domains your visitors come from.
• Referrer Reports—A ‘‘referrer’’ is the site that referred someone to you—in other words, it’s the site a visitor was visiting just before it came to your site. By tracking referrals you can see which links steer you the most visitors.
• File Type Reports—These sorts of reports tell you what type of files are being accessed by your visitors—they might be images, presentations, PDFs, and so on.
• Browser Reports—These tell you what kinds of browsers your viewers are using so you can tailor your content to particular versions or types if needed.

Often, log file reports present you with a ‘‘Top Ten’’ list of pages visited, files accessed, domains that visit you, countries of origin, and so on. When you’re trying to choose from Analytics’ rich set of reports, you might keep such options in mind so you can present your coworkers and managers with the information they need to make informed decisions about your Web site and what sort of content is contained on it.

Google AdSense and Blogs

6:10 PM Posted by Slamy

If you have a blog, or are thinking about starting a blog, then you are definitely going to want to read this article. It’s all about how to line your pockets with money that’s just waiting to be made without working much harder than you already are.
No only are blogs the hottest thing on the ‘net right now, but they are custom-made for Google’s AdSense program. Why? It’s simple. Blogs represent constantly changing and fresh content to Google’s search engine spiders. Feeding fresh content to those little spiders is just like tossing raw meat to a tiger. They just gobble it up. The more pages of your blog that get indexed, the more traffic you get. And the more traffic you get, the more exposure your AdSense ads get. Are you beginning to see where I’m heading here?
It’s not just Google that loves new content, all of the major engines do. In fact, some web-savvy bloggers are testing Google ads on one page and Overture ads on the other. It doesn’t take too long to see which ads are doing the best when you have nearly side-by-side comparison statistics to look at. Just don’t make the mistake of putting Google and Overture ads on the same page together. While they won’t kill each other like a pair of Siamese fighting fish in the same bowel will, you will be violating both sites’ Terms of Service, and it isn’t worth killing the goose (geese) that laid the golden egg.
It’s a snap to set up Google AdSense ads on your blog. Everything you need to know is right inside of the Google control panel. What’s not so easy is figuring out what ads are going to appear on each page. Since Google targets your key words, and your blog articles could possible wander towards any subject, you never know what you’re going to get.
Well, “never” is a strong word because there actually IS a way to pre-test your blog’s ads before you post your newest edition. Here’s what you do:
• Write your blog article like you normally would
• Plug in your AdSense code and then post your newest page to a sub directory that’s not part of your blog.
• Click refresh a few times until Google wakes up and starts sending ads.
• If you don’t like what you see then fine-tune the article until you see the types of ads that you’re looking for.
With some ads paying as much as $5 per click or more, I’d certainly spend an extra 30 minutes or so tweaking my blog. That’s for sure.
If you’re working hard to get your blog in front of visiting eyeballs, then it doesn’t make any sense at NOT to be using Google AdSense to draw every penny out of your site that’s possible. OK, that’s the end of the article. Now get busy tweaking your blog and checking your ads. You’ve got money waiting to be made!

6 steps to Adsense Domination

6:09 PM Posted by Slamy

When you make your living online, you realize the need for multiple streams of income.  One of the easiest and most lucrative ways to generate a secondary income, which also happens to be passive, is via Google’s Adsense program.
I’m sure you’ve read the claims of a few individuals generating five figure monthly incomes from Adsense. For many of you, I’m sure you are wondering why you aren’t making this same income yourself.
Well, wonder no more. If you follow my simple six step system, you will be well on your way to healthy Adsense profits within three months. Are you ready? It’s now time to pay attention.
Step 1 – Preparation.
The key to making money with Adsense is all about numbers. BIG numbers!
Sure, there are a few people making serious money with less than ten sites, but these are the exception.
Your goal will be twenty-four sites in three months. That’s just TWO sites per week!
In order to accomplish this, I recommend one of the many available page generation tools available today.
Step 2 – Determine Your Markets.
In order to maximize Adsense income with only twenty-four sites, you must know which markets are paying well.
To break this down even further, you need to know which keywords within those markets are paying the most.
Step 3 – Register you domains.
Once you’ve identified and chosen your markets, you must register domains appropriate to those markets. For example, if your market is ‘Cabbage Patch Dolls’, a domain such as http://www.cabbage-patch-doll.com/ would be appropriate.
Step 4 – Create your site.
Using your favorite page generation software and keyword list, it’s time to develop your site. There are several key points to bear in mind when you develop these specifically for Adsense.
1. Format – Always use the large 336x280 large rectangle.
2. Border – Match the same color as your background.
3. Background color - Border – Match the same color as your background.
4. Link = "0000CC"
5. Color_url = "999999"
6. Color_text = "333333"
7. Position – Far left or center and just above the page fold (Top 25% of site)
Step 5 – Verify and track your site
Visit your site and make sure all links work and that the sites appear to your satisfaction. You should also check out the ads Google is displaying. Are they targeted to your primary high paying keyword? If not, recreate your site using your high paying keyword in a higher density throughout your site.
Make sure you track your Adsense format, position, and traffic with a tracking system specifically designed for Adsense. Once you know your stats, you can adjust for maximum clickthroughs and higher revenues.
Step 6 – Get your site listed in the search engines.
This is simple… no tricks involved. Simply rent links to your site. A PR7 or PR8 link will do the job.

Adlink Success From Google Adsense

6:08 PM Posted by Slamy

There is a new advertising style from Google Adsense that is available in your Adsense panel, it is called “Google Ad Links.”  This new ad system presents a list of 4 or 5 vertical links(you can pick either 4 or 5 and Google will supply the actually links) to your site visitors, when the visitors click on one of the targeted contextual words it displays a results page from Google listing ten Adwords advertiser’s ads for this related topic.

Here is what Google says Adlinks are: “What are Ad Links by Google?
Ad Links are a new form of text advertising that we're offering to our AdSense publishers. Using the same contextual targeting algorithm that targets Google ads to your content pages, Ad Links units display a list of topics that are relevant to your page. Each topic, when clicked, brings the user to a page of related advertisements. The result is advertisements that are closely targeted to the interests of your users. By selecting the topics through interaction with the ad unit, users are presented with useful information in the form of related advertisements. Their direct involvement with the evolution of the ad unit guarantees an interest in the ads that are presented.”

Positive Aspects of Adlinks:
They allow you to blend this in with sections of your links which will get more visitors to click on them, inevitably increase your Adsense revenue. The Adlinks ads display 10 ad results when clicked without cluttering you page. Google’s rules allow you to place three Adsense code block on a website. If you are doing this near say a 500 word article it can distract the visitor from viewing the article. With Adlinks you can still display 1 block of normal Adsense code and the Adlinks block and it keeps your page relatively nice looking while still giving you revenue potential.

Negative Aspects of Adlinks:
Adlinks requires your visitors to make two clicks. One on the original Adlinks block and one when they view the Adlink results. As any marketer knows the more actions you need a visitor to take the less the response rate.

Where are the best places to display Adlinks ads?
The best place to display them are within your navigation menu. Try to make them blend in as best as possible.  Another great place to put them is at the end of an article suggesting an interested reader view these resources. When doing this the reader is very targeted since they red your whole article and if they are likely leaving your website, why not let them leave through Adlinks and make some money?
Are Adlink ads as effective as the normal ad blocks? Well some have seen positive results while other have not. Personally I am going to test it some more to see what kind of results and make my decision then.

Adsense – When should you use it?

6:08 PM Posted by Slamy

Well I have several sites, some of them I apply the AdSense to; to make a few extra pennies and some of my websites I wouldn’t even dream of placing Adsense to. For example, I will not use AdSense on a site that I wish to sell one product on, especially my own products. This can take your potential prospects away from what you want them to buy. Why would you risk losing them to your competition or to another site for a few lousy cents? Or dollars if you got the “higher” end priced AdSense ads on your site. All sites where I am selling a specific product will not have any out going links for me. I want to keep them on my site for as long as possible. However, I will use AdSense on sites that are more along the lines of “Free Content” websites. Usually these websites I set up, I use directly for making money with AdSense. What’s interesting with AdSense is that your layout can have a detrimental affect on how much you can earn from using it. Of course testing and re-testing will be your ultimate tool in finding out what works best with your website. I tend to stay clear of the lay out that looks like Google’s sponsored ads on the main Google website. Everyone identifies these ads as “paid” and not as likely to have as many people to click through them.
Adsense can be a nice little profitable tool if used correctly.

Google Adsense: what you need to know!

6:07 PM Posted by Slamy

We read about how to develop a Google AdWord campaign, but where do these ads get featured? To think that the advertisements feature only on Google depending on the keywords searched by users is not true as that isis only part of the ad exposure. Google AdSense can be considered the other half of AdWords. AdSense allows website owners to feature relevant Google ads on their website which matches user profile with the profile requirement of each ad and also allows website owners to EARN revenue via the traffic generated by website.
So if you have a website which attracts decent number of hits every month, Google AdSense is probably a good revenue generation model for you and the below mentioned benefits should be effective to get you convinced:
Add a revenue stream to your business:
Google AdSense provides an added revenue stream to your business which is very easy to set up and has a robust backend application which delivers the most relevant ads to the most relevant target group.
Set up procedure is very simple:
You do not need any technology know-how when it comes to signing up with Google AdSense. A simple sign up process, subsequent approval, and copying some basic html code onto your website will get you started with Google ads on your site right away.
Immediate advertisers on your site:
Since Google already operates a very successful AdWords program, where thousands of advertisers sign up, you get immediate advertisers who would like to be featured on your website. No sales or marketing is required by you to get advertisers at any stage.
Continuous Technology enhancement at no cost to you:
Google research team spends thousands of man hours in improving the AdSense programme so that users are directed to the most relevant ads and all this is available to you with no cost.
Don't fret if you don't have a high viewer ship rate on your site:
You can still earn via Google AdSense. You can feature the Google search box on your site and the subsequent page displayed with the search results has ads featured on them which can be your revenue generating AdSense Campaign.
No Junk ads displayed on your website:
If you are concerned about displaying junk advertisements which might have no relevance to your website visitors, then Google AdSense is for you. Only relevant ads are displayed to users and that is picked by both the profile that you put together as well as the content on your website. A number of well defined filters work behind the AdSense programme allowing the application to be 'intelligent'.
Find Google ads a tad boring?:
You are not the only one. Even Google engineers realize that the ads need some colour to them and you can add that to the display option. This does not eat into the users' bandwidth and yet displays using a good colour combination on the website.
Google also operates a premium program for webmaster for the AdSense program if your website is attracting more than twenty million page views and five million search queries per month and this is known as AdSense Premier.
Getting started is easy:
It is difficult not to be convinced about the AdSense program, and you can start off quite easily with a single page form which requires basic information about the type of account you would like to have ( business or individual), website information, select product ( AdSense for Content or AdSense for Search) and contact information. Login needs to be created simply with a valid and frequently accessed email address. All the information submitted is sent to Google for approval and on approval, you receive a link to fetch code from which you need to post on your website and you are ON!
AdSense is an easy program to understand and implement and has already provided a steady source of income for many a net entrepreneurs! What are you waiting for?

The Powerful Passive Income Generator - Adsense

4:18 AM Posted by Slamy

Webmasters have a revolutionary new method of collecting income from their websites. Whereas in the past advertising revenue was reserved for those sites with large a coming and going of visitors, now even teenagers are making a quick buck with their online hobby blogs. People place adsense on their online family photo albums, their blogs and their business sites. The minimum you would get, even with a small amount of traffic, is for adsense to pay for your hosting costs.

Adsense revolutionized the world of paid advertising; banner advertising is based on the number of visitors you attract to your site, so the number of “banner impressions” dictate the revenue you receive. Google image Adsense is quite different; it is the number of visitors that actually click on the advertising that determine how much you earn.

There is also a great disparity between payouts; because advertisers bid up the price for certain keywords, some ads pay more than others. As such, a site with few visitors but expensive keywords in their google ads can potentially still pull in a hefty payout.

Google really has taken the web by storm; attracted to passive income, more and more people are seriously capitalizing on their Google adsense advertising. Some of the highest earners manage to attract enough visitors to make a four figure monthly income, just from using adsense alone! This is not one of those get-rich-quick schemes and Google’s adsense success is largely thanks to the fact that Google already enjoyed a fantastic reputation before introducing the program. They are a publicly traded company with physical headquarters. This, and the fact that anyone can apply to use adsense for free, has caused millions of people to sign up. For google it was a smart move, because now they extend their presence to countless websites and generate millions of dollars in advertising revenue. People were never reluctant to sign up, because the program is free. Google benefits by more people using adsense, so offering it for free was the best thing they could do.

One of the driving forced behind the program are its relevance to each and every page on a website; the program picks up keywords appearing in the website copy and automatically displays relevant ads. This increases the chances of people clicking through, and the webmaster collecting more revenue.

People are leveraging their income by operating several websites and attempting to attract as many targeted visitors as possible; in many instances we can observe that people work hard at a site, then once it is established they can largely leave it alone, yet still collect significant checks.

A major concern for entrepreneurs was the danger of a competitors ads showing up on their site; thanks to the adsense feature where it only displays relevant advertising. However this problem was solved by offering webmasters the option of filtering out unwanted ads. They can submit the URL of the competing site in their account, and any ads from the website will be blocked.

Google recently came out with a new feature: small targeted keywords based on the site’s content are displayed; then as people click on those, a page opens showing a variety of pay-per-click ads based on that keyword. This gives webmasters the chance of displaying more advertising in less space.

Adsense also adds creditability to your website; the more focused the content, the better the ads will be and this encourages people to built high quality websites. These make the net a better place and generally provide a free service; site owners can afford to share their expertise or passions because they can receive indirect revenue’s. The visitor does not pay for the information; instead the advertisers do, making the website’s existence possible in the first place.

It is no surprise Google adsense is the most widely used form of advertising; they have created a program that is beneficial to both advertisers and users with their “no click no pay” mechanism, or more popularly called “pay-per-click”. Advertisers do not pay for ads that are not drawing visitors, and website owners are paid more for each click than they would if the system were based on the number of people viewing the ads, instead of clicking on them.

All in all Google adsense has developed itself into a powerful tool, used by large corporations and the kid next door. They have truly revolutionized how the web thinks about advertising and made the process more profitable for site owners, while less costly for advertisers.

The Baby Boom .. Contextual Ad Networks

3:59 AM Posted by Slamy

No, this baby boom will certainly not swamp the Social Security system,  but this baby boom is revolutionizing  the way that pay per click advertising is being spread across the Internet.  One of the early participants in this pay per click baby boom was  Google, with its AdSense program. With this program, Google shares pay per click revenue with a huge number of individual partner websites that carry a few pay per click ads that are  distributed by Google. In essence, this creates a whole bunch of little pay per click locations (websites) throughout the Internet and hence the term "pay per click baby boom".

Conceptually, programs like AdSense are similar to what the  computer hardware folks refer to a distributed processing. Instead of trying to draw everyone to a large pay per click  search engine site, little groups of pay per click ads are spread widely across thousands of locations (websites) all over the Internet.  Actually, this distributed processing or propagation technique is not limited to pay per click advertising. For example, Amazon uses a similar arrangement (called Amazon Associates) to sell the products it carries on amazon.com and ClickBank has a sales  program called CBAdwords which operates in a similar fashion.
According my trusty Ouija board, it seems likely that most commercial hubs on the Internet will be shifting to this propagation concept as time progresses...all of those individual partner websites that carry the message/proposition will  constitute the vast army of worker ants that keep the queen ant alive and healthy.
From a pay per click marketing perspective, these programs make  brilliant use of leverage while providing highly targeted prospects for the paying advertiser.

There are, of course, some interesting things that occur as a result of all of this stuff. For example, consider image what I call the "cross fertilization effect": Suppose a person goes to  yahoo.com and performs a search that leads them to one of my websites that happens carry Google AdSense ads and that visitor then clicks on one of those ads...the net result is that Yahoo natural search provided Google pay per click with some revenue!  Aren't these fun times that we're living in?  As these programs continue to proliferate, the individual webmaster needs to exercise a little restraint and avoid the temptation to go overboard by plastering these ads all over your  website and thereby diluting your own primary message/proposition and confusing your hard earned visitor. When properly used, these ads are just ancillary or complementary content that you are providing to enhance the information and opportunities that you are providing to your visitor...if something happens to strike a responsive chord with your visitor, you might make a little pay per click money.
If properly used, these propagation programs can result in the classical "win-win" situation. However, if you over do it, this can quickly turn into a loss for you (the individual webmaster)  and a win for your pay per click partners that are distributing  the ads. As in many things, moderation is important.

The dynamic search engine marketing industry continues to evolve as users began to take advantage of the steady stream of new features, tools and innovations provided by the ever increasing number of search engines offering quality search results (it's not all about Google anymore). The evolutionary time line for Internet marketing continues to run at warp speed.

An example of previous evolutionary periods (which by now may almost seem prehistoric) would be the emergence of pay-per-click advertising and the cooresponding rise of search-marketing firms specializing in AdWords and Overture. As long as there are methods for finding and retrieving information in digital databases by using keywords or similar attributes, there will be a search-marketing industry. How that industry operates in the  future depends on how the search engines operate and how consumer tendencies evolve.  It's a constant sea of change, but the good things just keep on  getting better! Stay alert, and light on your feet, and the opportunities will just keep on coming your way.  The above are just some observations from "the peanut gallery", but I don't think I'm far off the mark about where things are heading. With that, I'm off the soapbox and wishing you  success in whatever you do online!
